Ten Strange Pregnancy Symptoms

Bumpy gums during pregnancy
Oddly enough, a lot can happen to your gums during pregnancy: they might be swollen, they might bleed a bit and they might also grow bumps. Pyogenic granulomas are little nodules that appear on your gums, usually in your second trimester. Don’t be alarmed by the fact they’re also called pregnancy tumours – they aren’t cancerous and won’t spread. The bumps are usually caused by a hormone-induced heightened irritation to food particles or plaque and will eventually disappear on their own.
Solution
Because progesterone makes you prone to gum sensitivity and gingivitis (inflammation of the gums), good oral hygiene is more important than ever. To protect your gums and prevent pyogenic granulomas, brush at least twice a day, floss daily and use an antimicrobial mouth rinse. If you do develop bumps that are especially painful, talk to your dentist about having them removed.
