Cold and Flu Prevention

Don’t send your kids to school sick
It seems obvious, but too many parents send their kids to school with a cough, fever or even stomach flu. “Expect that your kids will be sick this year and plan ahead for a substitute caregiver if you can’t stay home from work,” says Dr. Matlow. Most preschools and daycares will send ill children home, but once your child has stepped through the door, she may have already infected other children. If your child has a fever, digestive problems or is just feeling poorly–keep her home.
