Medically assisted sex selection

The only truly reliable way to influence a baby’s sex is medically, through procedures such as Pre-implantation Genetic Screening (PGS). This (very) expensive procedure guarantees a baby's sex through in vitro fertilization, but it is normally only used by couples who are trying to avoid passing on sex-specific genetic illnesses, such as hemophilia. (Medically assisted sex selection for non-medical reasons is banned in Canada because of the ethical questions surrounding sex discrimination.)
