Celebrate National Organic Week by Changing The Way You Feel About Food.
Think Before You Eat

We were excited to help launch National Organic Week (September 19-27) at Toronto's Ruby Watch Co. with an all-local, all-organic meal sponsored by CLIF bar. The week is a great time to remember to think before you eat and commit yourself to making organic choices for your family whenever possible.

Canadians are speaking out more than ever, asking for organic foods to feed their family. Even while total farms in Canada are declining, organic farms are growing. Here's a look at organics by the numbers:

Organic By Numbers

  • There are nearly 5,000 Certified Organic Farms, processors, and handlers in Canada.
  • The organic market is worth nearly $4 billion per year.
  • The value of the Canadian organic food market has grown by three times since 2006.
  • 40 percent of all salad mixes bought by Canadians are organic.
  • More than 20 million Canadians by organic products each week.
  • 98 percent of Canadians plan to increase or maintain their current purchases of organic food this year.
  • Organic farms have grown by 66.5 percent since 2001.
  • There are 900,000 hectares of organic farmland across Canada.
