If your child has been begging for a pet, and you’re having trouble holding off his requests, Build-A-Bear may have a solution. The customized stuffed animal retailer has introduced a new line of Promise Pets.

The breeds include a beagle (seen here), golden retriever, Yorkshire terrier and Persian kitten. Each pet comes with a birth certificate and a mobile app that can be downloaded so that your child can experience virtual pet care, including feeding, potty training, vet checkups, exercise and grooming.

It’s a great way to teach your child about the importance of animal welfare and the responsibility associated with caring for a pet.

As a bonus, Build-A-Bear is partnered with the Petfinder Foundation, North America’s largest searchable database of adoptable pets. Petfinder is responsible for 44 percent of all pet adoptions in the region.
