Should Baby Reach for a Binky?

Keep the Binky Clean
Other than keeping sweet nothings off your child’s pacifier, the only other worries are looking for tears or wear, and keeping your child’s binky clean. “Many parents will put a soother in their own mouth to clean it, but that is a big no-no,” says Dr. Saunders. If your child’s pacifier drops, rinse with warm water and/or a little dish soap. “One of the things I love about a pacifier is that it’s so much cleaner than thumb-sucking,” says Dr. Tarra Elliot, owner of Eglinton Way Dentistry in Toronto. “Just think of how dirty your child’s fingers are. Especially when they start moving around.” Keep a few soothers on hand and if one drops when you’re out you can easily substitute it for a fresh one. Pacifier clips are also great because they prevent baby from tossing his paci from a stroller when you’re out for a walk.
