Best Tips For Potty Training

When a child won't go poo in the toilet

Number one versus number two. Peeing in a potty or toilet is usually much easier for children than having a bowel movement. “First of all, when it comes to being physically able to have a bowel movement on the toilet, a child’s feet need to be planted firmly on the ground or on a stool,” says Schafer.

Start by getting them used to the idea. So when your child has a bowel movement in his diaper, take it to the toilet and let him flush it down so he gets the picture. Get him to tell you when he has to go, then try to get him to a toilet right away. (Once he's done it once, it tends to be a lot easier.) Use lots of encouragement and know this part of the process often takes longer, but eventually it will happen.
